![]() Batman: Arkham Asylum is possibly the next biggest game to move from the Screen to your console. Initially Batman: Arkham Asylum was due to be released on June the 23rd, however delay’s occurred leading to a release date later this month, namely the 25th August.
The demo clocks in at just under 1.6gigs and boasts mainly tutorial like levels with one main boss encounter and some really well scripted cinematics. However we all know that a game based on the night time hero would need a lot more to fulfill every fans dark desires. Batman: Arkham Asylum throws you into the world of Joker and throws away the key, in a game made up in a mind of Gotham Cities most vile, twisted and illogical super villain Batman must strive to survive!
While Batman’s movements feel stiff and rather unresponsive considering how nimble the hero appears to be on screen, Batman does come to life in combat! The fight scenes are full of bad guys and with various combos from uppercuts to flying kicks taking out the garbage has never been so fun! A well timed counter can open up the enemy for a powerful combo which plays out in the typically trademarked fashion of bullet time.
As one progresses along the twisted corridors of the asylum and deeper into the Jokers mind, you are told about Batman’s detective mode. This mode enables players to see enemies much like an X-Ray machine would but also includes valuable details such as heart rate. The mode also highlights objects Batman can use, such as using his grapple hook on stone gargoyles to maneuver behind various enemies and stealthily eliminating them which sends fear through the fellow thugs who discover their fallen brethren.
![]() As you reach the end of the demo the majority of thugs are well armed, so Batman: Arkham Asylum forces you to play as an average Joe with an awesome suit and car! This of course increases the “realism” factor for fans, as the Bat is now not immortal against even a few armed thugs.
Batman: Arkham Asylum looks like a game that will combine stealth, logic and brute force into one of the best Batman games to grace your console.
